Its obvious that Steve Madden idolizes Alexander McQueen as most do(including myself), and that is why he's always replicating the same designs.

MEXICO MADNESS!!!

Cover Girl: Lily Allen

Lily Allen’s landed the cover of ELLE UK’s October issue in honor of the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week.

They’ve put her in a blond wig and custom outfits by Brit designers including Richard Nicoll, Stella McCartney, Burberry and Giles. The crystallized, body con by Louise Goldin’s.

In this behind the scenes video, which also features photographer Rankin talking about how “uber-cool” Lily is, she says she’s never really been into the whole Kate Moss, Sienna Miller thing and jokingly claims Alexa Chung’s her London Style Icon.

What I think is "uber-cool" is her stellar interpretation of Rock-icon Deborah Harry.

"DEVELOPMENT MUST COME BACK!"

Tori Amos vs. Lady Gaga, Round 1

Perhaps all of those pesky rumors about Lady Gaga becoming the next Tori Amos really struck a nerve with the veteran songstress. Because she took to the media and spoke with The Sun, saying not such nice thngs in regards to Gaga. She says, "how Lady Gaga is a meteor. Amos simply means that, as a meteor, Gaga is one of many "singers who entertain people for a while." She also goes on to say, "Hey, there's nothing wrong with that."

"You see, Lady Gaga is, unlike Heidi Montag, a definitive recessionomic heroine. Amos expounds, “She wants to entertain people. Right now, half the world is depressed and they need to be entertained. So her timing’s perfect.” But the conversation soon descends to arguments which find Neil Young and the word “bum” in too close proximity. “But then there are people like Neil Young who show up at Glastonbury 40 years into their career. And that’s a very different kind of artist. Neil Young doesn’t have to get his bum out on stage! The question is, will Lady GaGa be playing alongside Neil Young at Glastonbury in 20 years time?”

Hey Tori, remember when a few years back, you had to resort to a little bit of stunt casting in order to give her own career a lift??? AND! to her credit, Gaga remains unapologetic about her sensational stabs. Although most of us are hoping that Gaga gives Ms.Amos a 'one-two punch', “Wish you would’ve stayed silent all these years, you Carrot Top freak! before dismissing this entire squabble because her next overlong odyssey with Kane West is coming up this Fall and Miss Gaga will be taking no prisoners!

"I was of that generation where I got more out of The Beverly Hillbillies than Monet"

"Quirky goth director Tim Burton will be debuting some of his work at New York's Museum of Modern Art this fall. Opening in November, the eponymous exhibition will showcase the director's 27-year career with everything from his pen and ink sketches of Edward Scissorhands to watercolor paintings from The Nightmare Before Christmas. More than 700 rare examples of his work will be on display from November 22, 2009, through April 26, 2010. Though Burton's body of work is impressive, he was surprised to know that the MOMA was interested in displaying his work. "I didn't grow up in a real museum culture," Burton said at a press conference Wednesday. "I think I went to the Hollywood Wax Museum as my first museum ... I was of that generation where I got more out of The Beverly Hillbillies than Monet."
I’ll bet I’m not alone in my delight that Burton’s getting his artistic due; the exhibition will include never-before-seen paintings, drawings, photographs, storyboards, puppets, costumes, and a film series, with the first public showing of his student and early nonprofessional films. From November 18–30, full-length features will be screened too, including Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure and Sweeney Todd. If you like his animation, you’ll be happy to know that there will also be original puppets from The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride, in addition to severed-head props from Mars Attacks! and costumes from Batman Returns and Sleepy Hollow. For now, Burton is enjoying choosing the items that will be on display. “Every now and then, and since I had never done it, it’s good to kind of go back and reconnect with yourself,” he told reporters yesterday. “It kind of re-energizes you and connects you and gets the nerve-endings going again.”

Cave Mouth

By: Clues

"Who here, wants to sleep in the dragons mouth?"

I have this band shuffling quite frequently today.

Pop! Bam! Pow!

"Somewhere around the world, people are freaking out about swine flu again and Kate Gosselin won't shut up. But let's take a deep breath and shake off this stuff of heartbreak. Because in an age when none of us are immune to poverty, disease, and Kate Gosselin, pop music will be saved! Kylie Minogue, Calvin Harris, and the Scissor Sisters' Jake Shears are holed up in a studio today probably working on the one anthem that could undo years of destruction ravaged on this earth by everyone from You-Know-Who to Flo Rida."

Best Case Scenario: Essentially, the trio fits together a pop song so universal that it knocks away the hooks of previous chart-toppers, like that Black-Eyed Peas mush that America has allowed to remain on top for about four million years now. Ideally, this song will court such fervor that, when timed with her forthcoming North American conquest, it will bewitch everyone and establish Minogue as a household name. That includes denizens of the Bible FUPA who then take down their Sandi Patty pictures and instead plaster their walls with Minogue’s glowing smile.

Worst Case Scenario: Frustrated by how inconclusive all their recording sessions are, Minogue, Harris, and Shears throw in the towel and records a by-the-numbers cover of Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away.” This is then released in Benelux, Taiwan, and parts of Australia under a clever monicker, and otherwise ends up buried and catalogued next to Tori Amos’ dabbles in metal-pop.

Likeliest Scenario: Top of the pops in the UK for at least a month. Perpetually Bubbling Under on Billboard."

Sanda Bullock

While attending the priemere of her new film, 'All about Steve' held last night at the Mann’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, Sandra Bullock shared some very simple words about giving advice to others on relationships...

Sandra said, “I made [the film] really because it wasn’t a romantic comedy…It’s a guy’s comedy.” As far as dating advice goes, “I would never give advice to anyone, everyone has got their own thing, their own way. I think anyone who gives advice should be a licensed therapist. I wouldn’t profess to know anything. Nothing.”

Fashion Is Not About Looking Back

"Anna Wintour has been called a lot of things during her stint as editor of the infamous Vogue magazine. There has been talk that the Editor character of Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada was actually based on Wintour herself. Love her or hate her, Wintour has an eye for what’s hot and what’s not and when you run the biggest and best known fashion magazine on the planet, maybe there isn’t time to sugar coat things or mince words. There’s a job that needs to be done and despite what some may take as her cold demeanor, we have no doubt that she appreciates hard work and a job well done. In the end, it’s not about whether you like her or hate her it’s about deadlines and getting a magazine to print, not making friends and having everything be sunshine, lollipops and rainbows.

The motive behind film maker R.J Cutler’s new documentary The September Issue: Anna Wintour and the Making of Vogue. For those who don’t know, The September Issue of Vogue is the magazine annual biggest issue with the most articles, the most features and of course, the most ads. According to the press release for the movie the September Issue of the magazine” reaches an estimated thirteen million people and impacts the $300 billion dollar a year fashion industry more than any publication.”

If you haven’t check the trailer for The September Issue, you can do so right here.

Here are some shots from the premiere.

Grannie Dearest

Apparently, Old-hollywood legendary actress Lauren Bacall is Twittering! Hmmm, and im still not? taha. Nobody tells it like Ms Bacall! When Lauren chose to share her thougts on the movie Twilight(which her granddaughter forced her too watch)...she had some honest viewpoints to share with the world regarding the film.

"Yes, I saw Twilight - my granddaughter made me watch it, she said it was the greatest vampire film ever. After the 'film' was over I wanted to smack her across her head with my shoe, but I do not want a (tell-all) book called Grannie Dearest written on me when I die. So instead I gave her a DVD of Murnau's 1922 masterpiece Nosferatu and told her, 'Now that's a vampire film!' And that goes for all of you! Watch Nosferatu instead!"

There you have it! Some iconic advice for you CINEPHILIACS (like myself)

The Invention of Lying

What if we lived in a world where the simple concept of a lie doesn't even exist. No consequenes for lying. What would you do if thee entire world hung onto your every word? But when a down-on-his-luck loser named Mark (Ricky Gervais) develops the technique of lying, he finds that dishonesty has its rewards. Well there is only one thing Mark has not been able to lie his way into... the heart of the woman he loves.

She may still be crazy, BUT...!

Anne heche brought some logical sense to David Letterman last night while speaking about marriage and her Ex-husband. Although she did sound extremely bitter and still crazy.

Are you a Boy or Are you a Girl ?!

I found this very interesting article featured on one of the Fashion sites I usually check up on...hitting very VERY close to home and having true empathy for those are enviously gawked at. I can almost feel 100% what 'The Barbarians', one of the best-remembered garage bands of the '60s, not that it's easy to forget the sight of a one-handed drummer, complete with hook, driving his band through a garage-punk number in the company of the day's biggest British Invasion, soul, and pop stars. With uncertain melodramatic terms.... the band managed a surprising hit single, the British Invasion-inspired novelty "Are You a Boy or Are You a Girl."

Here is the featured article I spoke of...

"Ever since the dawn of feminism women have been adopting menswear pieces into their wardrobes and looking cute doing so.

From the inevitable menswear spreads in the September sssues of magazines to the Jean Paul Gaultier ads featuring Raquel Zimmerman in woman and man form, women in men’s clothing has become the social norm and not the least bit shocking. Isn’t every woman’s favorite “morning-at-boyfriend’s-apartment” activity going through his wardrobe and snagging a few shirts and sweaters?

But a man in a skirt or hot pants? Likely to get stares and glares. The Telegraph recently published a story about “Girlfriend Dressing” featuring pictures of Jamie Hince in what seems to be girlfriend Kate Moss’ short shorts and fitted blazer. I can’t blame him; who wouldn’t want to play dress-up in Kate Moss’ wardrobe? In all seriousness, though, why can’t men in women’s clothing be taken seriously the way women in men’s clothing can?

Almost every time a man is featured in women’s clothing in a fashion mag, there’s always a kitschy undertone or a bit of camp (not that we don’t love those Cole Mohr Marc by MJ ads). Marc Jacobs has been sporting a skirt for quite a while now and I’m totally into it, and no one looks better in Balenciaga capes than Andre Leon Talley, but why can’t more men feel comfortable in at least some women’s items? I think there’s no problem with a boy in a lady’s cardigan or short shorts (if you’ve got it flaunt it), but the outside world seems to disagree."

How about you?

WHIP IT

The directorial debut of Drew Barrymore ! That alone makes me quiver with certain expectations, all good ones of course.

This comedy stars Ellen Page as Bliss, a rebellious Texas teen who throws in her small town beauty pageant crown for the rowdy world of roller derby. Marcia Gay Harden (Into the Wild) plays Bliss disapproving mother, while Kristen Wiig (SNL) and Juliette Lewis play roller-derby stars.

Release Date: October 9

Eye Candy for the Style Hungry

Im having fun, don't you dare put me down!

A tune that is easily one of my most favorite of the year thus far!
Here is a live performance of 'Bulletproof'...

"Been there, done that, messed around
I'm having fun, don't put me down
I'll never let you sweep me off my feet
I won't let you in again
The messages You've tried to send
My information's just not goin in
Burning bridges, shore to shore
I break away from something more
I'm not to, not to love until it's cheap
Been there, done that, messed around
I'm having fun, don't put me down
I'll never let you sweep me off my feet

This time baby
I'll be Bulletproof

I won't let you turn around,
I'll tell you now, I'm much too proud
To walk away from something when it's dead
Do do do your dirty worst
Come out to play when you are hurt
There's certain things that should be
Left unsaid
Tick tick tick tick on the watch
Life's too short for me to stop
Oh baby, your time is running out
I won't let you turn around
And tell me now, I'm much too proud
All you do is fill be up with doubt"

Meet Blue Logan

"A couple of years ago a friend dragged the soft-spoken Brit to a show at London Fashion Week, and he started to draw the models as they walked down the runway. Within a few shows he realized the people in the front row were just as, if not more, interesting."

Now his drawings pop up in Vogues, both UK and American, on Style.com and a bunch of other fashion-loving sites. He’s been in New York this summer preparing his sandwich shop, Cheeky’s, working on a Kiehl’s campaign, sketching the cool kids in the Hamptons or at the Jane and starting a project he might call, “I’m on the List” about the nature of waiting in lines in New York.

He was in Paris before this and counts India as his favorite place, but he’s in love with New York right now. Welcome!"

Q & A:

So, wow, you have a lot going on.

Totally. I’ve sort of arranged it all along the walls to help keep track of it. I’m not used to working without any furniture, but it works well. This, over here, is a series of portraits I did at a party.

Did someone ask you to or were you just there?

Well basically rich people in Manhattan just say to me, “We’d love you to come to the party and draw.” So I do their portraits and they turn into these. And it’s a whole process I go through when I decide to take a sketch of someone. I scan it in, print it out and then paint it. It’s like a two step process.

Is that watercolor?

Yeah, it sort of brings it to life.

And then you give them the original?

No, it gets scanned, because most times these people want something digital anyway. So for instance, they want to turn this into a book of John’s 40th party so they’ll all get the Photoshop documents and then they can do whatever they want with it. I don’t really give people the originals, I hold on to them. I don’t think I make enough money to give them the originals, and I’d really like to hold on to them!

Tell me about Kiehl’s.

They’re just ideas I’m working on. They want something to do with the brand, but a kind of new symbol at the same time. She said I can take any product and do whatever I want, but I thought, well, when I think of Kiehl’s I think of a certain ethos and an American…whatever. So I’m doing this kind of strong man thing, and I’ll do women’s too...

We Are Golden!

British pop star Mika, dropped by 'BlackBook’s' conference room, apparently clutching a pair of scissors in his right hand. With bloodstains on Mika’s white jeans, he splattered the words Sex, Joy, Hate and Pain in black, with strokes on the wall, surrounded by molecules painted in bright primary colors. After reading the article myself, I found some very honest points Mika shared with the journalists over at Blackbook. I'll share a couple excerpts that I found intriguing ...

"Mika mined inspiration from adolescent angst for his sophomore full-length, 'We Are Golden'. “This one tackles emotions that everyone has to deal with—sex, pain, love and joy—and their relationship to each other,” he says, pointing to the words etched across the wall. “When you’re a teenager, you fall victim to all of those things and, truthfully, you stay that way throughout your entire life.”

“But does performance inherently mean I’m putting up a façade?” he asks. “Not necessarily. It’s not about trying to protect myself; it’s about creating another world for the sake of staying sane.” The ease with which Mika’s fantasy world blends into reality is something he shares with his good friend Lady Gaga. “You cannot separate her life from her art,” he says. “When I speak to her, though, she’s completely normal—she’s just wearing a fantastic hat.”

"I was a boy at an open door
Why you staring
Do you still think that you know?
Looking for treasure
In the things that you threw
Like a magpie
I live for glitter, not you

Who gives a damn about the family you come from?
No giving up when you’re young and you want some"
