Strawberry Fields Forever!

The Beatles besides being among the most talented musicians in music history, can also be considered among those men who were fashionable from the 60s.

They were trendsetters and experimented with the styles of the decade. From their classic and sleek Mod fashions in 1962 to the pyschedelic, high fashion, Carnaby street clothing from the late 60s.

It would be fair to say that The Beatles didn't really "create" any of this trends, they borrowed them from the subcultures of the era, yet they helped make them global and therefore defined fashion in the 60s.

Below the Fab Four around 1968-1969 posing in a field of flowers wearing different styled outfits. Ringo is wearing a colored outfit that is an example of the Carnaby Street style, Paul a sleek purple suit with a white shirt, while John and George opted for something minimalistic and understated.

The tune is called, "Police Sign"
And it's as electrifying as the rest of Poppy's musical creations!

"There Goes" Good TV

The Lady's 'Coslopus' is Offended

Magazine: V Magazine
Stylist: Nicola Formichetti
Model: Lady Gaga
Photographer: Nicola Formichetti

Lady Gaga has had crazy-bizarre rumours since recent footage of her dancing on stage showed a bump in her crotch. "I'm going to ask how her fashion works around her penis ... and whether her fans notice it," the team is heard joking before the interview begins, after a full audio track was posted on the Nova website.

"I don't even know what you're talking about," she responds over the phone from her recording studio in California.

"I'm just a girl from New York that wanted to be a star. Anything you wish to ask me is cool with me."

Meshel then asked, "Where are we at with the tiny penis issue right now, Lady Gaga?"

"My beautiful vagina is very offended," Gaga responds coolly. "I'm not offended — my vagina is offended.

"I've sold four million records in six months. I'm not embarrassed about anything."

Gaga instead said she blamed the she-male rumours on "society's reaction to a strong woman and the idea that we equate strength with man and a penis as a symbol of male strength."

Here is a snippet from a different interview. Love her or follow the trend of being a "anti-idontlikeher-shelookslikea-whatisshewearingnow..." Lady Gaga has one crucial aspect to herself that makes her who she is,
And that is...

Truth Be Told.

Million Dollar Bill

It's the first single from one of the greatest voices of all time, Miss Whitney Houston. The groove is funky and it was written and produced by one of my favorite musicians, the incomparable Alicia Keys.

Need I say more?!!?

Alicia Keys discusses her admiration for Whitney Houston and working on Whitney's new single "Million Dollar Bill".

You can be too boring, but you can never be too seductive!

Fashion designer Donatella Versace takes the October 2009 cover of Out magazine alongside British model Paul Sculfor. Donatella had some thoughts to share the with Out editor-in-chief Aaron Hicklin...

On if there is such a thing as being too sexy or seductive: “Never, never! You can be too boring, but you can never be too seductive.”

On crediting Gianni Versace with kick-starting celebrity dressing: “Celebrities — the cult — they don’t exist before Versace. This kind of thing to go and dress a rock band — nobody did that before Gianni did.”

Im going to shimmy my way on over to theatres and watch this Asap!

Well, you've probably heard by now that Oasis is splitting up, because one of the brothers freaked out, had a hissy fit, and stomped off stage. They've done this before, and our good money's on them getting back together sometime soon. Even their mum, Peggy, thinks so, “I'm convinced the band will reunite because they do love each other very much, but they’ve always been very different. The funny thing is, they didn’t fight as children. They didn’t fight until they started the band. ... I hope this isn’t the end of Oasis. I don’t think it is.

Here I present to you, my favorite Oasis tune.

Just one week after Alexander Wang let it be known that he would introduce sunglasses into the mix for SS10, Nylon has a preview of the wares. "Included are zipper hardware, catlike shapes, and bronzed resin frames."

Seeing as Wang’s runway has been producing trends before they hatch for seasons now, take this as your first warning: statement shades are going to be big for spring.

Madonna's daughter Lourdes in Like A Virgin pose

This picture is circulating around and is thought to be taken from a second version of Madonna's 'Celebration' video. Another version, which featured Lourdes dancing, was released online yesterday.

But is Madonna trying to form an entertainment kingdom to rival Disney’s continual production of disposable teen acts? She has enough children now.

Rub Me The Wrong Way

The Summer heat is intense and it adds to the artistic heat created for my recent shoot with photographer Todd Monroe.

This is only the beginining of my work with Mr. Monroe and we have some very "deadly" work in the coming weeks which I'm very excited about.

Be prepared my Monsters!

Director: Terry Gilliam

Johnny Depp - Tony
Heath Ledger - Tony
Colin Farrell - Tony
Jude Law - Tony
Christopher Plummer - Dr. Parnassus

This is Heath Ledger's last project that was being filmed at the time of his sudden death. In true Heath fashion, the film looks quite thrilling and captivating.

Faded Image

If I had to pick someone stylish around 1967-1972, I would definetly choose Yves Saint Laurent, a man who's a fashion legend and visionary. His personal style around these years was remarkable and at its peak. A style and exquisite taste that was reflected on his menswear Rive Gauche collection.

The key element is this collection was the safari jacket, which became a 70s menswear staple.

Below YSL modelling his own designs at Marrakech, a crisp white linen safari jacket ensemble, paired with a dark shirt and a multicored silk cravatte.

Diane My Dear

So by now, it should come to no surprise that I am a fan of Diane Kruger (having posted a tribute to her some weeks ago) films and chic sense of style but now I find her honest approach when being interviewed to be simply authentic.

The Wicker Park actress recently told David Letterman, “ My boyfriend [Joshua Jackson] and I are not Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, so it’s not like we have four cars following us wherever we go. There are days when it’s annoying to have photographers follow you, especially when you’re in pajama pants and just want to get a cup of coffee. If you’re hungover, the last thing you want is to have someone take your photograph. It hasn’t been too bad, though. We’re not that famous.”

Allow me to introduce you too...

Elizabeth & the Catapult!
Performing "Perfectly Perfect" at Joe's Pub in New York City.
Featuring Rob Hecht on violin.

I woke up this morning to the sounds of this tune, and let me tell you, watching the Blue-jays remove the bed sheets made it all the more splendid!
;) No. really.

Jay-z & Robo-yonce at Grizzly Bear Gig?!?!!

The most powerful individuals in thee entire musique business(money-wise) were at the Grizzly Bear show in Williamsburg! And supposedly, he got on stage with them.

Did he? I Have Video!

Though he was at the show with Beyonce, Hov did not get on stage. Watch Hov sway while the rest of the kiddas shape themselves into self-loathing pop culture aneurysms.

Now that it's September and with these wildfires blazing amidst, it's a sad week for LA County.

On thee other hand, this makes me incredibly happy because this weird ass summer is really ending.

But with this current weather state, I despise my sensitive dry skin that awaits me in the the afternoon heat . Thankfully, my lovely sources from 'Fashionistas' divuldged that over at Kiehl’s just today launched their new Imperial Body Balm. Apparently it makes your skin all kinds of supple and shiny. "And not in that way too shiny way that Gwyneth showed up to Conan with earlier this summer. It’s packed with antioxidants, cocoa and shea butters, honey, and fruit glycolic acids."

Socks, Would You?

Huge socks with heels... trying to keep things as simple as possible with a few key staples with these socks. The pink is definitely making a statement though.

From Me To You

A Fan.
A Friend.
Chose to share a couple words with me that I cherish whole-heartedly...

"i dig your blogspot <3 and
i love how the universe works for you - its inspiring."

World Premiere: A Madonna 'Celebration'

Official Music Video.

I have been an admirer of Tilda Swinton, since I first saw her.
Stepping into the world of Cinema, Tilda is possibly one of thee most brilliant actresses of this generation(along with Penelope Cruz,Kate Winslet & Cate Blanchett)

Not only can she take on some roles in what could be considered "difficult" films, but she can fake an American accent quite well. Erick Zonka directs Tilda's character about a self destructive 40 something, full blown alcoholic party girl, named Julia who's party girl days should have been behind her years ago. When she is ordered to attend an AA meeting by one of her best friends , she meets up with a psychologically disturbed woman named Elena, who wants Julia to kidnap her eight year old son from her Grandfather.

Julia with nothing to lose, eventually goes along for the ride. A kidnapping goen wrong, that goes from bad to worse to truly unbearable(and I do mean this quite literally). Thrown in a unintended trip to Mexico, watch as the film goes from perplex to down-right unbelievable!

Rent! it's out now!
File Under: Must watch for all you cinephiliacs

This year's oscar win for Best Actress, yes I said it.

Imogen Heap performed "First Train Home" on the Late Show with David Letterman a couple days ago, sounding as lovely as ever. But what really stood out for me was thee astounding GARETH PUGH 'multi-post-it layered' Top she wore while performing! Being an owner of thee exact same piece myself and using it for a very very special shoot I have coming up...makes it even more thrilling nonetheless. A pioneer of experimental musique with a pop zing, for more than 5 years now, Imogen heap is an original contributor to what is now known at the Musique worlds 'unafraid use of style to market a certain and occasionally false image.

Truth aside...marinate in the wonderful sounds from Imogen Heap!

Johan Akesson

Johan Akesson. I'd love to wear these shoes of his while attending a show in Paris but I think I'd need a kidda of mine who won't get drunk before me to make sure I won't be going home with bruises and scratches as a compensation. They do not look so easy to wear but you know there are some things I'd like to make an effort amidst all the absurdity. It's always good to see individuals making a conscious effort to challenge our conventions on how we men should dress and I'm pretty much convinced that the effort to try on their works is always worth it. So, if things get crazier I'd be likely to go for them. I will always find ways towards this kind of insanity. Challenge is always good and a male consumer should look at more ways to redefine himself. Perhaps going through many different looks like Patrick Wolf could be some inspiration. Finalement, I rather like making things complicated and I feel safer in that kind of territory where nothing is at it seems or on the literal level.

Headline News!

Mid-Eastern Obsession

I'd like to thank the beauty-obsessed reporters over at Allure and 'Fashionistas' for reveaing this awestrucking story that I normally wouldve missed in Sunday’s LA Times.

"Turns out that plastic surgery is majorly on the rise in Iraq, and we don’t mean the reconstructive type that has obviously been prevalent and necessary in the war-torn nation. Nope, we’re talking breast and nose jobs which, quite frankly, surprised the hell out of us.

And guess what? One of the main culprits is the same one we have here—television. With the arrival of satellite TV in Iraq, came a massive increase in elective surgeries. As one surgeon said, “It’s good having television as a source of information, but what you see on TV is not always reality. There are special effects, lights. People believe what they see and come to us expecting results that may be unrealistic.”

Also, young women (and apparently, their mothers) think they’re more likely to get married after they fix their noses. Sounds a little familiar too, right?"

Without getting too political here, I can’t decide quite how to feel about this beauty development. Of course, I’m a big supporter of freedom and having choices and the flow of information. But at the same time I hate to see more individuals feeling like they have to change themselves to find “success” in whatever way that is defined in their cultures.
