The Power of Love

The world can be a tough place. It’s full of social minefields, stranger danger and political discrimination. Considering the saturation of bad news, sometimes it’s easy to get bogged down all the shit and forget the power of love, like the love between two otters, Daz and Chip.

Daz and Chip, who had been friends for 15-years, longer than an average otter is expected to live, died within one hour of one another earlier this week. Cause of death: heart attack. First one, then the other. Remarked handler Gail Sutton, “The bottom line is that when one of them had a heart attack, it just set the other one off and he followed through.” She went on, “The only consolation from this is that they both went together because if one had gone without the other, the remaining one would have been really lost.”

It’s a sweet story, and one that’s open to interpretation. Seems as though Daz and Chip’s love transcends even human description.

So, what does this all mean? It’s about the tangible connection of love. Without one conductor, the other loses its charge. Little Daz and Chip couldn’t live apart, and, being about 100 in human years, died more or less together. Sure, sometimes love’s for the birds, but it’s also for the otters. No matter however lost or fleeting it may be, believing love actually exists, like a force, makes the world seem not so Grey.

I've said it a millions times before and i'll say it a million times again..."The Greatest Thing You'll Ever Learn Is Just To Love And Be Loved In Return"

Breakfast At Tiffany’s: Faded Films Edition

An ALL-TIME favorite of ours, here on itsnotyouitsme.org...Audrey Hepburn's Breakfast at Tiffany’s costumes may be simple, but they’re perfect. Forget her iconic black dress, ankle pants and sweatshirts are the perfect combination. And considering the trench she wears at the end, this may be the ideal wardrobe.

If you're resurrecting anything come this Sunday, you best-ah give a stellar reason for showing up with this hair-do? hair piece?. You know the Easter Bunny is going to hold her down for this!!!

Comme des Garçons

'Rei Kawakubo proved why she is the proverbial soothsayer when it comes to designing beautifully modern clothes for men. Although the designer's craft is often seen as anti-fashion, this seasons collection was a carefully balanced and commercially aware collection of signature concepts and styles. Softly tailored suits were deconstructed and reformed in contrasting fabrics and patterns. Florals, stripes, checks, gingham and tartan are all firm favorites of Kawakubo and patchworked together evoked a romantic and perfectly charming collection.

Ties were stiched onto the outside of jackets and knitted cardigans were fused over outer jackets. The collection shared the artisan qualities seen elsewhere on the catwalks and Kawakubo has a unique 'Midas touch' when it comes to handling fabric and color, that is both sophisticated and distinguished. Layering is also a signature technique for Comme des Garçons Homme Plus and the collection utilised a relaxed approach to mixing crumpled garments to create a perceptive and acutely realised set of fine clothes.

Kawakubo has been honing her menswear line successfully for a few seasons now. Clarifying and refining both the sensibility and wearability, the designer manages to deliver collections which are strewn with romance but still retaining a radical edge.'- morphoman.blogspot.com

Erykah Badu Chats About Her Controversial “Window Seat” Video With Our Mother Matron

So Kiddas, we've all heard by now how everyone's got their knickers in a knot over Erykah Badu strolling around JFK's assassination site in nothing but her birthday suit in the 'Window Seat' musique video. Badu hit up Chelsea Lately earlier this week to chat about the surrounding controversial clip...

Badu further defendeded herself on Twitter-land (Sorry kiddas, despite the requests, I still have no intention on creating a twitter account anytime in the near future), after the show aired and added, “I would never disrespect JFK,” she wrote. “His revolutionary thinking is my inspiration. My performance art has been grossly misinterpreted by many.”

UPDATE: Hours after we learned that Dallas authorities were seeking potential witnesses to Erykah Badu’s hotly contested Matt & Kim-inspired nude stroll through historic Dealey Plaza for her “Window Seat” video, Dallas police have charged her with disorderly conduct. Erykah herself seems to be taking it in positive attitude... “charged on Good Friday” she tweeted hours ago. Is this really happening?

Haha...so it seems, all hail the new messiah ERYKAH BADU! "Find your Jesus, find your cupid."

Bird Vs. Bird: When They Fight, They Fight!

Brit @ fashionista

In 2006, Elizabeth Carey started a line of handbags. She’s based out of LA, but her British husband (at the time) called her Bird (as Brits often do), and she named her brand after her nickname.

She was featured in Elle, picked up by Net-a-Porter and her bags were carried by one celebrity after another. In the summer of 2009, she started getting calls from friends and buyers and editors either congratulating her on her new line or asking how she was undergoing such a vast expansion.

She wasn’t, but Juicy Couture was launching their new line, Bird by Juicy Couture, and when they rolled out their campaign for the August 2009 launch, Carey was screwed.

“They’ve got these huge ads coupled with massive Bird rooms inside each Juicy store and accompanying window space, while we’ve relied on word of mouth. I’ve tried to build a campaign, but i don’t have a huge budget. For spring we took a pic of Frankie [Rayder] and wrote “Born 2006″ to remind everyone when we got here. So that they don’t forget about us!”

She sued Juicy, and their parent company Liz Claiborne, in January after personally reaching out to Juicy co-founders Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy (who aren’t in charge anymore).

But what does Carey want, other than the obvious name change? “I want people to support young designers. I trademarked my company and did everything I was supposed to do. It’s a good lesson for people who want to start a brand, to know this and know that it’s out there. A big conglomerate shouldn’t be allowed to do this.”

She says the frustration also stems from their moving in on her market, and selling something to her customer under the same name. While it hasn’t affected her business yet, at least not directly, she’s afraid of what will happen in the future, and says the worst part is being ignored.

We contacted Liz Claiborne for comment and they said, “We believe the claims to be without merit, and we will defend the lawsuit vigorously.”

Seems like we have two birds who are not on the same wire here! Big companies, fellow business mates, lovers...actually any type of associate can actually bring this disappointing and disgusting display of thievery to any one's door-step! Sometimes you just gotta fight the fight kiddas!

Here's 'The Generationals' tune 'When They Fight, They Fight', a bit perfect huh kiddas?!

New Kit Kat Fingers Or Not?

NOT. But what is quite disheartening is that Nestle, maker of Kit Kat, uses palm oil from companies that are trashing Indonesian rainforests, threatening the livelihoods of local people and pushing orang-utans towards extinction.
