Angelina Jolie Parades On The Cover Of Another Magazine

PARADE's Dotson Rader had the pleasure of sitting with Angelina Jolie on a ne-on-one sit-down interview. They talk about everything from her home life to that other actor husband of hers and "their children to her late mother, a rebellious youth, and run-ins with the paparazzi."

Below are featured quotes from PARADE's exclusive story.

When Rader asks if their children are the reason she and Brad stay together, "she looks at me like I am nuts." Jolie tells Dotson... "The children certainly tie us together, but a relationship won't hold if it's only about the kids. You also must be really interested in each other and have a really, really wonderful, exciting time together. We do. Brad and I love being together. We enjoy it. We need it, and we always find that special time. We stay connected. We talk about it. It's very important. If Brad and I are strong and happy, then our kids have happy parents, and that's the best thing we can give them." She adds, "Brad knows me completely, exactly as I am, every part of me. He loves me. The kids love me. They know all my flaws and all my oddities. And they accept them. And so I can feel complete."

On knowing love...
"I feel sad for someone who has never known love. Love elevates. You know, Brad would joke about me having this conversation about love. Love? It's such a funny word. Brad can find certain phrases of poetry for it. I'm terrible at it. But I know it means wanting the best for the people you love, putting their interests above your own, always. Love does that. Love is what you live for."

On her rebellious past...
"I used to cut myself or jump out of airplanes, trying to find something new to push up against because sometimes everything else felt too easy. I was searching for something deeper, something more. I tried everything. I always felt caged, closed in, like I was punching at things that weren't there. I always had too much energy for the room I was in."

On her early roles in Hollywood...
"I went through a period when I felt my film characters were having more fun than I was. It might partly explain why I ended up tattooed or doing certain extreme things in my life." She points out an inscription on her arm, one of her 13 tattoos. "The wild heart caged. I unlocked my cage years ago. I want my children to have that freedom. I want that for other people, too."

On the unrelenting media circus, the paparazzi...
"We do everything we can to keep our kids away from it. We travel to places where the kids aren't aware of that kind of thing. We try to give them a full life where they don't have to come face to face with that world. With the paparazzi present, we're careful when we leave the house. Other than that..." She laughs at the absurdity of it all. "We don't stand in the checkout line at the grocery store looking at the magazines. Our friends don't tell us about it. And our kids don't know. I feel if we keep looking out for them, they'll be fine."

On balancing work and children with Brad...
"He takes the kids to school; he visits me on set with the kids. I'm home for dinner, or I'm there for breakfast. We're together all the time. We plan. Brad and I take time off between films to travel, have big experiences, do things together. That's how we work it out."

On being a happy homebody...
"There's never a period when Brad and I are pulled apart. We are not separated for more than three days, ever. We stay really connected. We actually don't go out much. It's funny. We're very homebound. We're very much Mommy and Daddy in our pajamas."

On her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007 of ovarian cancer...
"Mother never put herself first, ever. At the end, she said her greatest success was being a mother. I remember Mother singing in church. How pretty she was! I lit candles with her. She said she had missed nothing in life except getting to know her grandchildren. When she passed away, I brought my son to church to light a candle for her." Jolie's eyes fill with tears. "Forgive me," she says. "I loved her so much."

Kelis wants to start a dance revolution

Taken from todays associated press. By NATALIE ROTMAN, Associated Press Writer

LOS ANGELES – Kelis wants to make you sweat.
The 30-year-old singer has had club hits before, but with her latest CD, "Flesh Tone," she's zeroing in on the clubs, hoping to get people moving on the dance floor. Even though it seems like the pop world is engulfed in disco fever, Kelis says people are too cool to groove.

"No one is sweating, no one is dancing," she said. "People don't ever dance anymore."
"Flesh Tone" comes after a turbulent period in her life. She split from rapper Nas, the father of her infant son Knight, and the former couple engaged in a high-profile battle over child support. She also tangled with the animal rights group PETA after she was photographed in fur.

The Harlem native talked about her music, raising her son and her thoughts on People for Ethical Treatment of Animals during a recent interview.

The Associated Press: How did you go from creating R&B hits like "Milkshake" to an all-dance album?

Kelis: I felt like everything started to go in the same direction. I hate to toot my horn, but if you look at where music was as far females and what's Top 40 radio and whatever, where it was before "Milkshake," versus after, I mean you kind of have to be retarded to deny that it literally changed female vocalists. ... So for me, it was just about wanting to party again.

AP: It was reported you got a hefty divorce settlement from your ex-husband.

Kelis: No matter what it is that I say, or don't say, people are going to make up their opinion. I have not said anything about my personal life at all. ... At the end of the day it has no bearing on me or my kid. Maybe you want to think about that. You are blogging about my life that I am actually living.

AP: Knight is going to grow up with two public figures as parents. What do you want people to know about Nas as a father?

Kelis: My kid is the center of my world. I don't leave him ever. I take him with me everywhere. I was married. It didn't work out. The most amazing thing came out of it. I am good with that. ... He (Knight) will never read anywhere that I said anything negative about his father. It doesn't matter whether it's true or not. Because at the end of the day he needs to know he did come from love.

AP: If PETA would have came and said, "Look you have strong fashion cred. ... Can you help us?" Would you have thought about it?

Kelis: No. Here is the thing. The reason I responded the way I responded is because of the way they came at me, absolutely. I am not going to be hypocritical, though. The reality is, I get in trouble for stuff I say all the time because I am honest. The reality is there are a lot of causes I do have. This is not one of them. I am not saying like I don't care about animals and kill them all. That is retarded. It's ridiculous. I have two pets. My sister is in school to be a veterinarian. My (late) father was a vegetarian my entire life. That is not the case at all. I took my kid to the zoo the other day. The point is, I am not the one that is killing the animals.

Kate Moss by Mario Testino, The Book

'For his tenth book, Mario Testino selected over a hundred of his favorite photographs of friend and muse Kate Moss for a very special volume devoted to the iconic supermodel. Published by Taschen, the boxed hardcover book is printed in a limited edition of 1500 copies, each numbered and signed by Testino.' - Courtesy of Homotography.blogspot.com

Testino explains in the book’s forward, “I met Kate very early on. Shortly after her first Galliano show I went backstage to congratulate her, only to find her crying: she was disappointed that she had only been given one outfit to model in the show. My answer to her was this: “In life there are perfumes and colognes. You need to use lots of cologne as the scent fades away; with a perfume you just use a drop and it lasts all night. You are a perfume, you will go on and on.” Little did I know just how true that would become! And that I had made a friend for life.”

“Mario took me to a new level of glamour. I don’t think anybody had seen me as any kind of sexy model before he did. He was the one that transformed me. Before him I was just a grungy girl, but he saw me differently,” Kate Moss writes in an exclusive essay featured inside the book, “He was the first to say “Oh, she’s quite sexy. I’ve seen her out! I know she’s not just that grungy girl.” He’d seen me in a pair of heels, getting glamorous – and he was the first to start taking pictures of me in that way. He changed the way people thought about me as a model, for sure. Later other people started working with me in that way, but he was the first.”
