J.Crew CEO Mickey Drexler Says All The Right Words.

"I think the key to success is vision that adjusts on the way, but doesn’t at all falter. It’s about not compromising and following your gut to a certain degree, based on knowledge, instinct, etc. And not listing to the naysayers…. You develop strength through adversity. You have to keep moving towards your goal through huge obstacles. It’s not easy. Especially a business like this where there are so many moving parts. You have to build a good team and know who’s good and not good and you have to keep raising the bar on your life. For me it’s always, ‘I have to get up and do a little better today and go to work to learn." - J.Crew Ceo Mickey Drexler On his methods of success. Source: Fashionista.com

The Beatles On An Island

The summer of 1967 brought the fab four aka The Beatles, to a travelling frenzy surrounding the Greek Isles. The exact date was July of 1967, and the four friends along with their entourage arrived to Athens, Greece with an explorers type of mentality. Also with thee intention of purchasing an island off the Aegean Sea located in the Mediterranean Sea.

The concept was conceived by John Lennon who thought the idea of such an investment would manifest The Beatles' living habitation into a groovy and positive one.

The thougth might of succeeded its actual reality. Alas, it never happened but one good thing came of all this; John, Paul, Ringo and Georges' island excursions were tracked and filmed for their video for their tune, "Baby, You're a Rich Man".

Their psychedelic prints weren't left far behind though. In the photo above and in the video clip alone, you can see tunic tops, festive ethnic flowy trousers and hats along with vests and neck pieces were summer staple for the fab four.

Film: Magic Trip

In a time when mind altering substances were new and pure in content, the youth of the United States roamed free state to state on the open highways in search of something more substantial in life.

Alex Gibney and Alison Ellwood’s MAGIC TRIP is a freewheeling portrait of Ken Kesey and the Merry Prankster’s fabled road trip across America in the legendary Magic Bus. In 1964, Ken Kesey, the famed author of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” set off on a legendary, LSD-fuelled cross-country road trip to the New York World’s Fair.

Joined by “The Merry Band of Pranksters,” a renegade group of counterculture truth-seekers, including Neal Cassady, the American icon immortalized in Kerouac’s “On the Road,” and the driver and painter of the psychedelic Magic Bus. Kesey and the Pranksters intended to make a documentary about their trip, shooting footage on 16MM, but the film was never finished and the footage has remained virtually unseen. With MAGIC TRIP, Gibney and Ellwood were given unprecedented access to this raw footage by the Kesey family. They worked with the Film Foundation, HISTORY and the UCLA Film Archives to restore over 100 hours of film and audiotape, and have shaped an invaluable document of this extraordinary piece of American history

Baby Yoga To The Extreme!

Last week we showed you a cute clip of a baby doing yoga but the Egyptians take it to the extreme with 'Swinging Baby Yoga' classes!

Swinging Baby Yoga exercise has been devised by Lena Fokina, a midwife whose methods have divided opinion across the world. She teaches each day on the beach at Dahab's Masbat Bay in Egypt where she meets pregnant women and parents with children of young children. Most of her followers are eastern European and mainly from Russia. Fokina says her methods are based on those of Igor Charkovski, a Russian midwife and a pioneer in water births. Each session begins with yoga followed by baby dipping in the sea. Mothers are instructed in how to take the infants into the sea. They're taken underwater and forced up to the surface. Fokina claims this allows babies to experience the elements and develop senses naturally. She believes that too many people are afraid of exposing their babies to nature and the elements and that these exercises allow a better communication between parents and their babies. According to Fokina the natural elements help to develop a sixth sense, intuition.
