Raf Simons Covers i-D, Talks His Final Collection for Jil Sander

Fashionista.com takes a updated look at new Dior creative designer Raf Simons in his latest front cover interview for i-D magazine.

i-D‘s Lights, Camera, Action issue is hitting newsstands May 10, and who better to grace one of its eight covers than fashion’s man of the moment, Raf Simons?

The designer has certainly had his share of ups and downs as of late. After allegedly being “unceremoniously dumped” from Jil Sander to make way for the return of its founder, Simons bid a tearful farewell at his final runway show for the label in Milan. Weeks later, Simons was named creative director at Dior, ending a year of speculation over who would finally succeed John Galliano.

Now, he’s peeking from behind a patch of grayed out blooms on the cover of i-D, with the fitting caption “It’s Show Time.” Indeed. He’s also speaking up about his final (gorgeous) collection for Jil Sander. He describes it as “…very wholesome, very romantic. Kind of like when you’re outside, walking in nature. Beauty isn’t always obvious; you have to search for it. That’s what I find most romantic.”

Romantic, huh? How very Dior. Simons also discusses his personal perspective on fashion and why he chose to throw himself into the industry. “Fashion is not there to educate you, but to challenge you. Sometimes I speak with young kids and I have the feeling… not that they have no interest, but that they look at it in a different way. This is the reason I chose to do fashion, to create a dialogue and bring people together.”

Sounds like a good read! If you can’t wait until May 10 to get your hands on a copy, you can order the issue online starting May 7 at i-Donline.com.

Peter Sellers And Britt Ekland Are Ready For Lift-Off!

The always fun and hilarious, comedic icon Peter Sellers along with his then wife Swedish actress and singer Britt Ekland strut an aerodynamic-like pose for photographer Lord Snowdon back in the mid 1960's. The black and white shot give a stellar effect to an impeccably composed photograph.

Funny how Mister Sellers resembles another one of our "Vintage Post" regulars. Can you guess who kiddas? Here's a hint, he Imagined a world where All You Need Is Love.

Cindy Crawford and Her Daughter Kaia Star in New JCPenney Campaign

Following in her supermodel mothers footsteps Kaia Gerber Daughter of Cindy Crawford is shot for a upcoming JC Penny's Advert.

Cindy Crawford recently said that her 10-year-old daughter Kaia, who had starred in a Young Versace campaign, was too young to pursue modeling. Luckily, she made an exception for this new JCPenney campaign (yet another example of the mass retailer stepping up their fashion game). And we kind of hope she keeps making these exceptions because, as Donatella Versace put it, the camera loves her.

The “Things My Mother Gave Me” campaign stars Kaia, Cindy and Cindy’s mother, Jennifer. In it, the genetically blessed family wears matching outfits and talks about how great their moms are and it’s adorable. Not surprisingly, Cindy Crawford is a cool mom. “She’s so nice and I can actually hang out with her and have fun,” says Kaia.

Click through to watch and see what Cindy says about her own mom! It’s sweet. Happy mother’s day!
