"Prabal Gurung On His New Target Collab: ‘I Kept Coming Back To the Idea of Love’."

Fashion writer by Cheryl Wischhover tells fashionista..."We’re in the middle of a high/low designer collaboration frenzy right now. Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl’s hits stores November 7, Maison Martin Margiela x H&M comes out November 15, and earlier this week we learned that Prabal Gurung is doing a line for Target (!). Now we’re getting a closer glimpse of at least one of the looks from the line, thanks to a just-released video. In it, Prabal talks about his inspiration: Love. Just when you thought he couldn’t get any more adorable… “One thing I kept coming back to was the idea of love,” he says in the video. “Whether it’s having it, pining for it, losing it, wanting it.” Oh, we’re going to want this collection, all right. (It drops February 10, 2013, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Aw.) Click through to hear about the collab in Prabal’s own words and get a better look at that fab floral jacket." - fashionista.com

Oscar de la Renta Is Getting a Fashion Retrospective at the Clinton Presidential Library

Cheryl Wischhover over at fashionista has plenty to spill when it comes to Oscar de la Renta's Fashion Retrospective at the Clinton Presidential Library...
"Oscar de la Renta, who’s no stranger to dressing political wives and First Ladies, just landed himself a nice little fashion retrospective exhibition…at the William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum of all places. The timing of this announcement, which we read about in our just-delivered November Vogue, is interesting considering how frequently he’s dressed the wife of the Republican presidential candidate. De la Renta has found himself at the center of some political dressing dramas over the last few years–sometimes of his own making and sometimes not. Back in January 2011, the outspoken designer famously chided Michelle Obama for not wearing McQueen to a state dinner instead of an American designer. The First Lady has notably never worn Oscar, which is actually quite unusual for women in politics. Laura Bush and especially Hillary Clinton both had his frocks in heavy rotation when they were First Ladies. Clinton is good friends with the designer and wore one of his gowns to daughter Chelsea’s 2010 wedding. “Like so many other women the world over, I have always turned to Oscar when I needed to shine,” Clinton told Vogue. Most recently Ann Romney has shown herself a loyal supporter, wearing his designs to the last two presidential debates. This became a partisan matter when sites like Fox News wondered why @OscarPRGirl wasn’t proudly tweeting about Romney in his designs. Perhaps de la Renta is just a true bi-partisan designer (unlike many others in the fashion industry, namely Anna Wintour, who have not been shy about showing their support for Obama). Adding some credence to that theory? Pieces worn by both Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush will be on display at the exhibit and Vogue notes that the show hopes to travel to the George W. Bush Library in Texas and the Reagan Library in California. Andre Leon Talley curated the exhibition, Oscar de la Renta: An American Icon, which will open in November. Forty pieces will be on display, arranged thematically into categories like “Impact” and “Caribbean.”"

Re-post Worthy: Itsnotyouitsme Album Spin - With The Minutes

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland new Blues/Rock band The Minutes, consist of a three piece band including members Mark Austin, Tom Cosgrave and Shane Kinsella. Their d├ębut album entitled "Marcata", was released stateside this year and after a few earfuls later, I can tell you kiddas

After touring with the likes of Albert Hammond Jr (The Strokes), with single releases such as 'Black Keys' and 'Heartbreaker', this new Irish band have established  themselves as a developing unique rock 'n' roll act and can shove all comparisons (at first listen you think The Black Keys and/or Jack Black and his various musical projects) down the drain.

They recorded their debut album in upstate New York with producer Kevin McMahon, creating a stellar ten track record full of energetic rock riffs and bluesy melodies which mostly every authentic rock band looks for. When that perfect little musical phrase that should provide the rhythm and personality of the song takes a hold of your eardrums and has you pleading no mercy. The album smashes through one tune after another, and without further a do, I present to you kiddas "Marcata" the debut release from the Dublin three-piece act The Minutes!
